Play 123, Alfie Atkins is an educational app that offers a playful and engaging way for children to learn mathematics through numbers. Developed in collaboration with teachers, students, and educational researchers, this app aims to stimulate children's learning skills while fostering creativity and experimentation.

In the app, children join Alfie in his kitchen where they can explore a recipe book filled with fascinating recipes. By tracing and writing numbers on the screen, children not only learn the appearance and sound of each number but also develop their motor skills and muscle memory. These numbers and simple mathematics are then used to cook dishes in the game, which can be decorated with spices and other extras, allowing for creative expression. Serving these dishes to Alfie and his family and friends brings joy and laughter.

As children progress in the game, they unlock new decorations and recipes, ensuring long-lasting gameplay and continuous learning in a fun and pedagogical environment. The app emphasizes a personalized learning experience, allowing children to play and learn at their own pace.

In addition to its educational value, Play 123, Alfie Atkins was designed with children's needs in mind. It does not feature points, time limits, or other elements that could lead to failure or stress. This allows children to fully engage with the app without feeling pressured.

The app is available in six different languages and offers the option to create individual profiles for multiple children. However, please note that Apple does not support family sharing of in-app purchases. To share the full version of the app with family members, it is recommended to purchase the separate premium full version from the Appstore.

Gro Play collaborates with the Playful Learning Center at the University of Helsinki to create game-based learning experiences.
